Episode 2 Recap
Teresa still works as a GRO in a club. She gets into a fight when a fellow GRO advises her to just quit her job and bring in her daughter instead. Her statement pisses her off and defends her daughter. She protests that her daughter will never be like her, and that Anya will finish her studies and will have a decent job.
Anya worries about their budget when her neighbor, Lantoy approaches her. He asks her if she is in need of money and proposes that he'll give her a hundred bucks in exchange of a kiss (pervert!). She gets offended by his rudeness so she gives him a slap.
It's Lantoy's mother to the rescue defending his son. She tells Anya that she deserves it. She even brings up the fact that Anya's mom is a prostitute. "Your mum was a prostitute in Olongapo. You and your brother even have different father. And now you're crying, don't pretend to be clean."
Anya is stunned by Aling Tasing's statement. She keeps quiet for a moment. Then she finally speaks up, says she doesn't fight back to elders but she won't forgive Lantoy. She hits back by kicking his balls (nice one girl!).
Now let us meet our second heroine, Holly Posadas (Euala Caballero), a rich kid and popular in the campus. Anya accidentally bumps into her, causing her to fall in the ground in front of their schoolmates. Anya apologizes but Holly pulls her hair and calls her stupid (Oh, mean girl!). Anya fights back but her friend stops her, reminds her she might lose her scholarship if she engages in a fight.
Holly goes home happily and so excited to tell her mum that she won as Ms. Campus. On the contrary, the news disappoints her. She tells Holly to stop doing nonsense things so she can be proud of her.
It turns out that Holly is a huge fan of Josh Bradley. She has pictures of Josh posted in her wall. She takes a CD and plays it. It is Josh singing "Where ever you are". She lies on her bed, closes her eyes, and starts daydreaming.
She dreams that she's on the swing, sitting, flowers are around her. Josh goes to her, takes her hand and locks eyes with her. She opens her eyes again. She looks at his pictures and says, "When will I ever see you Josh Bradley?" ( Uh-oh, I smell obsession here..haha)
Holly and Anya meet again. Holly and her friends (the Mean Girls!) see her in her part time job. They approach her with an insult, tell her she suits her uniform and looks like a maid. Anya asks them to just leave if they will not buy anyway. Holly says she'll buy 10 burgers and tells her to make it fast.
Josh arrives in Manila. He's so happy and thrilled to be back home again. Like a child, he gapes as he does sightseeing in the city on their way to the hotel.
Steve learns about the cancellation of the concert in Bangkok. He hurriedly flies to Manila to follow Josh.
Steve forces Josh to come with him in London but Josh resists. He insists that he's staying, and threatens his uncle that he won't do the European tour if he does anything to stop him. Chit adds that they cannot cancel the show since contract has already been signed.
Josh explains to his uncle that he just wanted to come home. Steve reiterates that it's not his home. "I told you a million times that this is not your home! You are an American. You have no reason to come here."
Josh walks out of the room.
The (mean) girls don't want to accept the burgers from Anya, saying they don't eat dirty burgers and might get sick if they eat it. They also call her dirty and rubbish.
The girls leave without paying. Anya follows them and insists that they should pay it. Holly tells her to pay for it, for the humiliation she has caused her. Anya says it wasn't her fault and she has already apologized. One of the girls butts in and say "Sorry to your face!" She provokes Anya to anger. Anya gets a burger from the plastic bag and throws it at her face (You deserve it mean girl!).
Anya's supervisor comes in and asks her what's going on. Holly cuts Anya started it. She puts all the blame to Anya. Anya defends herself but her supervisor stops her and tells her there's no need to explain because she's fired. (Ouch! Just like that? Poor Anya.)
Comments:
I like where the story is going so far. And David Archie's acting? It's a so-so. Well, I'm not expecting him to be very good anyway. We all know it's not his forte. But it's good to see he's starting to explore his other talents. Jasmine and Eula are doing a great job. Considering they are only newbies in the industry. I can see the potentials.
I must say, David has got the best smile. It's very rare to see that genuine smile in the camera. All he needs to do is to smile and everything is fine. I don't mind if he lacks acting skills. In this drama, we get to see other side of him. Who knows that that he can be that bubbly and childish. I enjoy his presence in the camera so far.
In this episode, we are learning more about our heroines. Despite her humble background, Anya is a strong willed girl and a real fighter. She will do everything for her family. She doesn't let people to hurt her and her family. On the other hand, Holly, who comes from a well-off family, is a spoiled brat, maldita (bitchy) girl. But in reality, she is girl who longs for her mum's attention. She doesn't have a good relationship with her mum. Everything she does is a disappointment for her mum.
