HORMONES The Series

Yes, Thais also produce good films (and dramas). There were many movies I enjoyed and loved. They have bunch of good stuff be it horror, romance, comedy or human drama. As for TV series, I seldom finish their dramas. I usually drop them after first episode because I find them cliche. They have  the traditional theme and plot the same as those I've seen growing up. You know the typical family drama (rich and poor) or the Romeo and Juliet type full of angst. Thai dramas and Filipino dramas are pretty the same, they have that Latin-American telenovela influence.

Meanwhile, Hormones The Series is different from the typical because it's very modern and pretty much like those high school Jdoramas and Kdramas I loved. The length is comparable to other Asian dramas with its 13-episode format. The theme though is more daring compared to the usual Asian high school drama. It's a Reply 1997 meets Gossip Girl. The content includes sensitive issues like sexuality, premarital sex, bullying, violence and substance abuse. We all know that for a conservative country, dramas of this type are still unacceptable on TV because the youth might interpret it differently and take those things as a norm. As expected it became controversial and the production team had to explain themselves to a government body before it could continue to air. Anyway, it was aired in cable channel so the government was lenient and announced that they won't ban the TV series.

I can say that the show was actually very careful in presenting the sensitive issues or the "provocative" content people were talking about. They incorporated those issues in the story carefully. It is more like telling us that these things are really happening in high school and our main characters have to deal with them, that their actions have consequences (bad and good).

Setting the controversial content aside, it's a typical high school drama. It talks about high school crushes, young love, friendships and family. These elements are never tiring and always relatable because we've all been there. We all experienced the fun and dramas of high school. Looking at the characters, we could actually say that we know these people and their story was our story.

Beyond The Clouds

First quarter of this year has just ended and I already have my most favorite drama of the year. I've been following updates about this drama even before it was aired. Not only because of the actors but also because I love revenge melos. I am a fan of melodramas but not the extreme types. Reading the synopsis, character descriptions and watching the teasers, I was instantly sold. Beyond the clouds may have not garnered good ratings in Korea but  many international fans like myself completely fell in love with it. For me, it was well written, from the conflicts to the characters.

A Review: Bu Bu Jing Xin

I've been planning to watch this drama since early last year but I just couldn't find time to watch. So it took me almost a year until I finally got to see this drama. Most of the knowledge I had about BBJX was from Koala. I could see how much she loved it that got me curious and interested. Okay, here we go, gotta start my introduction.

IRIS2, That Winter, The Wind Blows

If there are dramas I look forward to this 2013, IRIS2 and TWTWB are on the top of the list.  I don't know yet the details of IRIS2 but I must admit, I want to watch it because of the actors and because I love action dramas. In the trailer, we see scenes similar to Athena. I wouldn't care even if the concept it's recycled concept, I'm more interested with the badass fight scenes. Just don't give me a totally nonsense plot.

Another drama that caught my attention because of the cast is That Winter, The Wind Blows. The story is about a gambler who will pretend as the long-lost brother of a blind heiress. Jo In Sung and Song Hye Gyo are the drama leads. JIS is the gambler and SHG is the blind heiress. The teaser got me interested especially that Jung Eun Ji (Answer Me 1997) and Kim Bum (Padam Padam) are in it

Nice Guy MV by lemonlimetea

It's already Tuesday but no preview for episode 15 has been posted yet. Sigh. I'm patiently waiting and checking from time to time. 35 hours to go before the 15th episode's broadcast. Ahh time is so slow. I've been browsing NG videos and I found this MV created by lemonlimetea. It summarizes all 14 episodes, great video. It is so sad, makes me wanna cry. It shows how much EunMa love each other, and care for each other.

Nice Guy Episode 13 Preview

The video preview for episode 13 has just been uploaded by KBS.  Let's enjoy this preview for now EunMa shippers. Anyways, it's only 28 hours before the broadcast of episode 13.  As you can see from the photo above, Eun Gi is having some bonding time with Eun Seok. Another good thing about EG's amnesia is that all her hatreds have been wiped out. Now that she's restarting everything, she now gives ES a chance to be close to her.
