Nandito Ako Episode 4

It seems that his instinct was right, his mum is still alive.

Episode 4 Recap

Gerald (one of Holly's BI friends) approaches Anya and introduces himself. He asks Anya to be his tutor and promises to pay her one thousand pesos each session. Since Anya needs money and is actually looking for a part time job, she accepts his offer.

Gerald acts like a goody goody to get her trust, pretending to be harmless. It turns out he has other motive for asking Anya to be his tutor. The mean girls know about  his plan. Holly hears their conversation so she hurriedly looks for Anya.

He offers Anya a drink before they start the lesson. He actually secretly poured something into it, a sedative drug so he can execute his plan.

Josh holds a press conference for his concert. He shares that people in the Philippines are friendly and hospitable, he feels at home. He doesn't mention yet that he's a Filipino himself (well, a half Filipino). He also mentions about halo-halo, says he loves it. And when a reporter asks him what he thinks of Filipino women, he responds, "They are malambing (sweet) and loving".

Anya is starting to feel dizzy and is likely to faint. Gerald starts harassing her. She eventually passes out. Gerald kisses her and films it with his phone.

Press con is done, they now to leave the hotel. Fans waiting for him outside are screaming. In the crowd, is his ninang (god mother) shouting, "Josh your mum is still alive! Cara  is still alive!" She tries to come closer to Josh but fails to. Josh stops and tells Chit he heard someone shouting his mum's name. Chit says he must have misheard it.

Holly arrives  just in time to stop Gerald. (Thank God, nothing happened.) She takes Anya and brings her home. She puts money to Anya's wallet and leaves her to her ninang.

Earlier that night, Lantoy tells Teresa that he saw Anya leaves the campus with a man and rides in his car. Teresa doesn't believe him but he brought with him a video of what he saw.

Meanwhile, Josh is bothered by what he heard, thinking what if he heard it right, that her mum is still alive.

Anya arrives home. Teresa asks her angrily where has she been. She tells her mum that she was just tutoring a classmate but she doesn't believe her. She gets her bag and sees the money Holly put in her wallet. One moment, she gives her a slap. Anya, crying, explains she doesn't know where the money came from, that she only received one thousand from her classmate.

With his friends, Gerald boasts his video with Anya. He tells them that the video proves Anya is a slut. They are now planning to upload it for everyone to see.

Holly, grabs his phone to see what they are feasting on. She's lecturing her friends when Anya comes in. She grabs the phone and sees the video. She throws the phone, crying. "What did I do to you?! Why are doing this to me?"

Anya blames Holly, says it's all her doing. Holly says sorry but she doesn't listen. "It was just a petty thing. I ruined your coronation. And now you are ruining my life?!"

Comments:

It looks like Holly is changing her heart. She now realizes what kind of friends she has. It's a good thing that the kontrabida (villain) is not totally kontrabida. We see that she also has a good side, and she is only like that because of her friends.

In fairness to that pervert Gerald, his acting is convincing. I hate him that I want to crash him into pieces.

In the previous episode, Anya shows concern to Holly but she doesn't believe her sincerity. Now, in  this episode, it's the reverse. Holly cares but Anya doesn't accept it.

Anya—"You are so cruel to me. If you screwed up your relationship with your mum, don't do  that to mine! Because my family is all I have, and now, it might also get ruined because of you! The trust and love of my mum will also be ruined because of you."

I don't know if it's because of the delivery or the acting or the lines itself, but I cringed when I heard Anya say those lines. Does she really have to say those words? I understand the writer wanted Anya to look more pitiful but again, it's overdone. It's not a (heavy) soap opera, the lines—"You are so cruel to me. If you screwed up  your relationship with  your mum, don't do  that to mine!" should have been enough. She should have stopped there.

Lines are indeed important to send the message but it doesn't have to be very long. I've seen dramas where characters had short dialogues but they captured me. I think it depends on the scene as a whole. It is how the director makes it, how the actors deliver the script and how appealing the lines are, it doesn't matter if it's brief or verbose.
